writing

I never have been an great writer and have struggled at this for a very long time. I find it hard for me to come up with ideas for my papers. Writing is very different from other topics in english and other subjects. It is putting the ideas that you have onto paper. I have struggled a lot in trying to make my papers longer. For example if I have a four page paper assigned, I struggle getting passed the third page.

The type of papers that I struggle with the most is defiantly research papers. I found the process very hard when writing my paper. It was very time consuming trying to find all of the information and citing my sources. I also have a hard time organizing my paper and knowing where everything needs to go to make my paper good. I try using outlines and sometimes this helps. I am certainly going to stop by the writing center at some point this week.

Jane Goodall

It has been a long time since I have heard the name Jane Goodall. I used to hear so much about her but not like I used to. I always remembered her from the monkeys she used to take care of and study. It never occurred to me that she had become and author of a few books. I always admired her work with the monkeys though.

Recently, I have been hearing things about her new book. There have been lots of people talking about her plagiarizing other people's work. I was amazed when I heard this and did not want to believe it. I could not envisage Jane Goodall taking other people's work and using it for her book. She seems like such a sweet person and to think that she would do that is unbeleivable. But, she acts as if she did not know that she did it saying, "It was a well researched book". I believe that she should start over and write a whole new book and get different information.

nervous contitions

I think that Nervous conditions should stay on the syllabus next year. It was not my favorite book, but I thought it had some good points and it answered our question in class. Even though it is fictional history it reflects post-colonialization in Africa. It makes the reader aware of the way things were in Zimbabwe.

Even though I thought this was a good book there were a few negatives about this book. At some times, the book would become boring and not interesting. This was because there would be chapters where absolutely happen; then there would be chapters where lots of things occurred. I think that the information in the book should have been spread out through each chapter.

Another problem that I had was the characters. I did not like some of the characters; especially Tambu. I thought that she was annoying at times I did not agree with the decisions that she made. I really did not like how Tambu complained about her brother Nhamo and how he had changed when he came back from the mission and when she came back from the mission she had acted the same way and this made me angry.

I think that Nervous Conditions was a really good book and it taught me a few things. I think I would have enjoyed this book more if I could have read this book like as a summer reading book where I would have a little bit more time. Overall, I think that this book should stay on the syllabus.

free blog post

This past weekend my baseball team had a tournament. We won all of our games up until the last one. When the other team began scoring, our team gave up. Everybody started to lose confidence in our ability to win. But, we did come back and tie the game 8-8. We started to see that we had a chance to win. However, it was too late because we let the other team score two more runs giving them the victory. If we would have played with more aggression we would have won easily.

expectations

One of the places in my life that has expectations would be church. The first expectation is to be quiet. I should not have loud conversations with other people. This helps me to pray silently. Im expected to listen to the readings and the message that is presented by the priest. Another expectation is that I follow the teachings so that my thoughts and behavior are in line with the Bible's instructions. This makes me have a better understanding of God and how I should behave.

The expectations at home are cleaning my room, doing homework, and taking out trash. By doing these  things I am taught discipline. This makes my relationship with my parents easier. We get along much better when I do what is expected of me. When I meet my parents expectations for me at home, it makes me feel good about myself. Also, this makes my family environment a better place to live.

chapter 9 and 10

In chapter nine Tambu wants to go to a new school that is considered by many to be a "white school". Babamukuru does not want her to go and tells her that it would be a waste of money. Babamukuru finally lets her go to this school and Tambu is thrilled. But, Nyasha is very depressed by this because she will no longer have a friend at her house and will be all alone. This seems like it will be a problem in the future.

Chapter 10 starts off with Tambu and Babamukuru's family going to bring her to this new school. She is led to a room that is very crammed and is not as nice as the ones that the white people stay in. Nyasha continues to starve herself and it is becoming very serious. She finds a psychiatrist that happens to be white and tells her that she is misbehaving and tells babamukuru to just punish her. I think that he is racist and does not really care about Nyasha.

persona of tambu

Tambu always expresses and explains how she feels very clearly without any hesitation. That is what I like about Tambu. I will be talking about the fight between Babamukuru and Nyasha. 

I was shocked when I saw Babamukuru hit Nyasha like that and then she hit him right after. You would think that such a civil group of people would be a lot different than this. I think that they were both wrong. But overall, I think that Babamukuru should be apologizing for calling his daughter a whore.

Reflection

My first c layer project in nervous conditions was very helpful I thought. When I first started to read this book, it made no sense to me at all and I didn't like it. But now, All of the assignments and projects really helped me understand and figure out this book. This makes the book a whole lot more enjoyable.

The assignments were reading logs, vocab test, and character bookmark. From easiest to hardest the vocab test being the easiest, the character bookmark being a little harder, and the reading guides being the hardest. The vocab test took a little time but was not very hard. The character bookmark did not take very long at all if you have been reading the book. The reading guide had to be the hardest. But, I thought this was the part of the layer that helped me understand the book and really made me look hard to find the answers. I chose to do the reading guides again but picked other things also.
